Who is this programme for?
This course is suitable for anyone aged 16 or over looking to start a career as an electrician. It's aimed at those with some prior experience in the industry looking to embark on a new career path, but this is not essential! Candidates should be looking to build a solid understanding of the core principles of electrical safety and gain the qualifications needed to work independently. You will learn the theoretical understanding and practical skills necessary to be a confident workforce member or start your own business!
An Entry Level Route is available for those without industry experience looking to start a new career!
We offer daytime and evening options for this course so you can undertake your training at a time suitable for your circumstances.

Qualifications awarded
Learners will gain the following industry-recognised qualifications:
- LCL Awards Level 3 Certificate In Installing, Testing and Ensuring Compliance of Electrical Installations in Dwellings
- LCL Awards Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671:2018
- LCL Awards Level 3 Award in the Initial Verification, Periodic Inspection Testing, Condition Reporting and Certification of Electrical Installations
- LCL Awards Level 3 Award in the Installation and Commissioning of Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment in Domestic, Commercial and Industrial locations
- LCL Awards Level 3 Award In the Installation and Maintenance of Small Scale Solar Photovoltaic Systems
- LCL Awards Level 3 Award in the Design, Installation and Commissioning of Electrical Energy Storage Systems

Pre-requisites
Ideal candidates should have some prior learning/experience, but this is not essential. There is an Entry Level Route available for those with no industry experience!
Applicants must be 16 or over.
Course structure and Assesment method
We have daytime and evening training options for this course:
Day Release Managed Learning Programme
Candidates are expected to attend our Kirkintilloch training centre for theory and practical learning for 1 day a week between 9am and 4:30pm.
There will also be at-home learning and assessments hosted online to allow you to further develop your understanding in your own time.
As part of this course, Energy Technical Academy will also put you in touch with a placement company to build your on-site portfolio and continue your professional development!
Evening Managed Learning Programme
Candidates are expected to attend our Kirkintilloch Centre on the following schedule for valuable in-person practical and theory learning:
- 2 evenings per week, 6 pm to 9 pm.
- Occasional Saturdays, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
As with the full-time option, Energy Technical Academy will also put you in touch with a placement company to build your on-site portfolio and continue your professional development!

For this course, we offer a flexible and interest-free monthly instalment payment option.
The Day-Release course can be secured with a £300 deposit, and the Evening course with a £600 deposit.
