This course is suitable for anyone aged 16 or over looking to start a career in the gas industry. It's aimed at those with no prior experience or qualifications in the industry looking to embark on a new career path by building a solid understanding of the core principles of gas safety.

You will learn the theoretical understanding and practical skills necessary to be a confident workforce member or start your own business!

We offer full-time and part-time options for this course so that you can undertake your training at a pace suitable for your circumstances.

Full-Time & Part-Time Options

We understand that sometimes you can't just drop everything in life to retrain for a new career, that's why we offer our Managed Learning Programmes in both Full & Part time options, with evening classes to ensure you can smoothly transition into your new career over time! Our full-time course takes 30 weeks (5 days per week), and our part-time course takes 62 weeks (2 evenings per week & occasional Saturday classes).

Full Programme Breakdown

The sections below break down the key details about the course, including how much it costs, exactly what you'll achieve, and when you would need to attend our Kirkintilloch training centre.

Qualifications awarded

Learners will gain the following industry-recognised qualifications:

  • CCN1 - Core Gas Saftey
  • CPA1 - Combustion Performance Analysis
  • CENWAT - Domestic Gas Central Heating Boilers & Water Heaters
  • CKR1 - Domestic Gas Cookers

You will also receive the following accredited training modules to enhance your understanding further and build on your essential skills:

  • Safe Isolation and Essential Electrical Testing
  • Fault Finding

This course also has extra modules added covering Renewables!

This package will allow you to gain the following additional qualifications as well as all the understanding you need to start working with renewable energy solutions like Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP):

  • Unvented Hot Water Systems and Saftey (HWSS)
  • WRAS - Water Regulations
  • Level 3 Award in the Installation and Maintenance of Air Source Heat Pumps

Pre-requisites

This course requires no prior learning/experience, and is specifically crafted for those with no experience in the industry!

Applicants must be 16 or over.

Course Structure

We have both full-time and part-time options for this course:

Full-Time Managed Learning Programme (30 Weeks)

Candidates are expected to attend our Kirkintilloch Centre for theory and practical learning from Monday to Friday, 9 am to 4:30 pm.

There will also be at-home learning and assessments hosted online to allow you to further develop your understanding in your own time.

You will gain priceless in-the-field experience with a Gas Safe Registered engineer on a placement.

Part-Time Managed Learning Programme (62 Weeks)

Candidates are expected to attend our Kirkintilloch Centre on the following schedule for valuable in-person practical and theory learning:

  • Wednesday and Thursday evenings, 6 pm to 9 pm.
  • Saturdays, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Part-time students will still receive a placement in the field with a Gas Safe Registered engineer - this can be completed flexibly to fit your schedule!

Costs

We offer a flexible and interest-free monthly instalment payment option for this course, as well as full payment in advance.

Full-Time Basis

  • Managed Learning Programme + Renewables Package = £6000+VAT.
  • £600 deposit.

Part-Time Basis

  • Managed Learning Programme + Renewables Package = £7500+VAT.
  • £600 Deposit.
